If needed you can go to your assigned dining room before dinner and ask for your coupons.

What is open seating?

On CCL, there is no open seating for dinner, all assigned. For breakfast/lunch in the dining rooms, its open seating.

I know that, however the poster above stated the first night was open seating.

On some sailings where there is a late first night departure, Carnival Destiny for example, the first night is open seating for dinner. When you show up, you are escorted to the first available table (like breakfast and lunch).

We have also had this happen on the Victory, when we left Puerto Rico!!

I heard, and thought I read someplace on CCL website that the drink coupons are delivered to your room upon embarkation...?

The Destiny has opened seating the first night-- since sailing is after 10pm. If you buy drink coupons for the destiny you wont get them until the second night.

We had a late 8pm departure on The Miracle too - that first dinner was opened seating too.

Heading to the dining room for your drink coupons dont work like that any longer since a hostess is the one that gives them out. Once a upon a time we could do that-- but no longer

We bought a bunch of drink coupons before our cruise and it really helped. Basically it comes down to spending the money now or when you are on your cruise. One thing we found that you can use 4 of them to pay for a bottle of wine. We went with a group of people and each of us did that on different nights so we had wine with our dinner. One good thing to remember is that you aren't going to be on the ship during the day if you go on excursions or just to see the islands so don't buy too many. We had one couple in our group buy too many coupons and ended up drinking a lot on the last day at sea to use them up. They had a really good time the last day. :)

no expiration date-- use them for the next cruise--or get your money back by selling them on ebay

Sorry for posting this but I am still a little confused...a couple of us like to drink martini's, i saw they are about $7.50-$8 something. Do the coupons go up to the $4.95 amount and then you put the rest on your S&S card? Or does the drink coupon take care of the WHOLE martini? Thank in advance. :)

Technically speaking, you would be charged any amount above the $4.95.

However, it has been mentioned that not all bartenders/servers will upcharge you. So you might ;) be able to cover a martini with just the coupon.
