funcpl30 Posted July 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2007 Is it normal for the Captain to be changed during a cruise? Were on Triumph 23rd to 30th and Captain was changed during Grand Cayman stop. Seemed peculiar to me.
mrdood Posted July 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2007 They do change, when and where is a matter of convenience I am sure...
gtalum Posted July 5, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2007 Maybe the captain had a personal emergency... I would imagine that standard protocol would be to change out personnel at the home port between voyages.
kathy32259 Posted July 5, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2007 This is interesting.... When I was on the Triumph in January - the casino manager was leaving to go to the Legend. He was to debark at Grand Cayman and the new manager was to board there. Unfortunately we missed that port - so he had to stay on until we got back to Miami. Seemed peculiar to me. That did seem to be a bit strange. Do you think it may have been related to the emergency air evac on the Sunday before? nothomeonacruise Posted July 5, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2007 That is odd about the Captain, but it's probably just convenience. I'm on the Triumph again in November.:) I'll be curious to see who is Captain!
gtalum Posted July 5, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 5, 2007 Grand Cayman seems liek such an inconvenient port for transferring crew, though! The ships miss it a lot, for one thing. And there are few air connections from there.
TracersQQ Posted July 6, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 6, 2007 When we were on the Victory, in January, our captain got off in Jamaica and a new one took over. That was our last port and we were heading back to Miami, anyhow. It wasn't due to an emergency - the CD told us about it during that nights show - I forget why he left, though. He either was going on vacation (whatever they call it after working for a couple of months and then being done) or he retired, I can't remember which. That was my first cruise, so I din't know that was something that was unusual. I remember my Mother saying she thought it was kind of strange, but I didn't think anything of it until now.
