Venting about rcl / OBC (merged)

Recommended Posts

Can anyone confirm they received a obc from rc's 1 day sale in june even though their cruise was already booked. I called on that day, they checked my cruise, made sure there was no price increases and after all that told me my 2 rooms qualified. i received a new email from them that day with no mention of a obc , was told that do to the crazy busy day they had they will be posting the obc credits at a later date.

I now call today to follow up and they tell me there is no mention of a obc and that i was told wrong info that it was for only newly booked cruises.

Doed this sound normal? this is my 1st rcl after 7 carnival's and we always received obc's or price drops right up til sailing.

any info is appreciated,

thanks

If you had already had a cruise booked prior to the RCCL WOW 1 day sail, and tried to rebook to get the OBC, you would not have received it. It was for NEW BOOKINGS ONLY. That was very specific in their terms, and there was much controversy on these boards about it. Was this a new booking made on that day? If so, there should be an OBC. If you just tried to rebook, you are out of luck.

I am also a Carnival girl that's seriously considering booking with RC......do they typically lower your price if the price goes down prior to final payment?

That IS one nice thing about Carnival.....

Thanks!

They do honor price drops. You cannot get a price drop on specials for NEW BOOKINGS ONLY though. I remember reading that they looked to see if you had cancelled and rebooked on the WOW sale and would not let you get the onboard credit if you had. Sorry.:(

Actually RC will credit you the difference if the price of your cruise category goes down anytime before sailing except for some new booking only specials like happy hours.

as per a previous post today , rcl is not honoring obc credits from there 1 day sale in june . I was told on that day our cruise qualified for the obc, today when i call there is nothing there. So I speak to a "resolution specialist" and she tells me that she see's in the notes where my pvp told me that , however management changed there decision 1/2 way through the day, and that i am not the only person who this happened to but SORRY there is nothing we can do for you. you can send a letter to corporate if you want, but they have no phones set up to receive calls. :D

Now I know it is only $200.00 ($100 x 2 rooms ) but this has never happened to me on my previous 6 carnival cruises , on 4 of them i was given either obc or the reduced price. It really leaves a bad taste in my mouth before final payment is due.

one last note, when i booked with rcl direclty i asked them to confirm that if any sales come up or there are any price reductions that i will receive them even though i am booking ayear in advance....needless to say "of course sir"

any way I feel better already,

thanks

I thought I was with you until I read this part. Do you mean that you had a prior booking and someone agreed to add the OBC from the one-day sale to it? From what I've heard, people were generally NOT allowed to get that OBC with an existing booking, so it may just be that whoever told you that you could had bad information. (And agents and reps having bad or conflicting information seemed to be a recurring theme with that sale.)

correct, however what gets me is that on the day i was told that i could receive it (on the sale day) it is not that the person had bad info , he had correct info but wat the resolutions agent at rcl told me was that my agent told me the correct info however after the sale begun management made a change to the policy to "only new bookings" so since it's corporate there is not 1 thing she can do.

I just find it very unprofessional on rcl's part.

Like I said in your other thread -- some special sales are for NEW BOOKINGS ONLY. That fact was stated clearly (at least to me) during the June sale. I'm sorry you got bad info -- good luck getting it resolved. Someone said there was a lot of confusion and posts here about that sale (I didn't see them as I was at the beach). Try doing a search to see what the issues were and how people got them resolved.

I'm sorry, we posted at the same time. I'm not sure why they would tell you it changed later in the day. I booked that day and could have used a previous booking number. I had to do a new booking to get the OBC. I could not combine the two. If I remember correctly, it was stated clearly several days ahead of time, that this sale was for new bookings only.
