car rentals for kauai & maui

We will be going on the August 12th cruise and when we port in Nawiliwili, Kauai and Kahului, Maui we want to rent a car (BI we will go on our own). What location do we go to pick up that are near ports. And any advice on shuttles to car rentals, how much for transfer and what agencies to go to for good effecient service. Thank you in advance for any suggestion.

They have free shuttles I believe to their airport locations.

We found tons of info on car rentals in the Hawaii ports part of this website.

 

BEST info we got was to book online in advance (not from the cruise ship) on thrifty.com and join their free blue chip program. It was awesome we just stolled into the car rental offices signed the papers they had waiting for us and strolled out past a long line a people. They have a seperate line area for blue chip members who've already set up their rental cars.
