Hotel Savoy in Rome

Recommended Posts

we have stayed around the corner each of the last three years at la residenza about 50 yards away. Savoy is nice. Atm right next door to pick up euros without paying U.S. unfavorable bank fees or AAA even higher fees. The hop on hop off bus (one of like 15 stops) is right in front of the Savoy entrance across the street. Make sure you walk over to the restaurant Giorosto Toscano. it is about 3 blocks away and the front desk clerk will know it and write you up walking directions. the first time we ever ate there the person the recommended it said there was no need to go to the Vatican for a true religious experience, just eat there and have the veal chop! he was right!!!!!! the antipasto plate is a great starter also. walk up and back via venato from the Villa Borgese gates down to the bottom plaza. there is an internet cafe there if you need one before you leave. one euro for a half hour. walking back up there is a great wine store where you can pick up a couple to take with you on the cruise if so inclined. the Savoy looks like it is on a crappy little side street but don't let that fool you.

you might want to walk over to La Residenza and check out the public rooms just for a future reference.

have a great trip.

Thank you for the great information. It is very helpful. Do you know what bus line is across the street? It seems like there are several bus companies. Does that one go to the Vatican and Colosseum? Do you remember how much it costs? We will definately try the resturant you recommened. Thanks again

From other threads posted, there appears to be 4 different Ho Ho bus lines. There is a green line, a 110 bus, a christian one and this one that I found.

I like this one because after your first usage, you get save your ticket and save 10% off subsequent tours in other towns (Naples, Florence, Pisa, etc.).

If you do a search for Viator, I think that brings up another one.

Have a great trip!
