Beth & Rob Posted July 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2007 We are planning on taking the train from the port into the city. I don't have all those details yet, but want to know about getting in the the coliseum. Do I have to pre-buy tickets and if so, where? If I can't or don't, is there a long line to buy and get in once there? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Good idea taking the train from Civitavecchia, cheap and easy, buy your ticket on the day from station, ask for a special day return, less than 10 euros.this ticket allows you on the underground,do not forget to validate the ticket at the yellow m/c on the platform, seen many a passenger fined by the inspector For train times web trenitalia as for Col, no,buy at the gate, many entrances only 2 stops from the Terminus, good tip ,get off the train at the vatican, that is if you want to go there, there walk to Spanish steps, catch the train to Colly

Teresa Price Posted July 15, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2007 hi, you can buy tickets before online and then miss the queue - which is really bad in the summer!! I think we bought them from tickets italy.com. When you get there you just walk to the head of the queue - once past the security check. cheers Teresa
MavisMarie Posted July 15, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2007 You can also buy your tickets at Palatine Hill, next to the colosseum. There is never a line over there and then you can walk across the street to the colosseum without having to wait in line.
