AVGeek Posted July 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2007 And pulled up the Pier at Galveston. I noticed the satellite photo has a Carnival ship docked there, but not sure if it's the Ecstasy or the Conquest. Anyone know? thanx -D
mrdood Posted July 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Might not be either depending upon when the photo was taken, some of the images are years old... could be the Elation... Fantasy and Conquest classes are easy to tell the diff from the air, no round pool on the fantail of a Conquest class.
JustRambling Posted July 17, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2007 If it's the same picture that's in Google earth, it's a newer picture because just a couple of months ago, that picture wasn't there. It is definitely the Conquest. Fantasy class ships have a place in the back of the ship on the lido deck where you can sit out and eat...this ship doesn't have that. Also, there is a sky dome on this ship in the photo, Conquest has the sky dome, but fantasy class ships do not. :) And, as Mr. dood mentioned....there is no round pool on the F-deck.
mrdood Posted July 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2007 The one on Google maps is definitely Fantasy class...

L2J Posted July 17, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2007 And, as Mr. dood mentioned....there is no round pool on the F-deck. I don't think there has ever been a pool on the F-Deck although it's not a bad idea.
CScottRun Posted July 17, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 17, 2007 I used to go onto Google Earth when I had free time or I was bored and move from port to port and look to see if there was any ships in port when they took the image. Found quite a few.
Mysticks1 Posted July 17, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 17, 2007 At this time there are no cruise ships in Galveston. Check out this link. http://www.cruisecal.com/portal/ The google earth and other satellite programs are not in real time. They can be as much as 3 years old. On Google Earth the screen that shows my house is over 2 years old.
