We will be docked at Kings Wharf on 8-17 from 8am-5pm. We want to get to a nice beach first thing (especially for kids, I'm leaning towards Horseshoe) and also take in either Fantasy or Crystal Caves. Is this possible in one day? How would we get from place to place? Thanks for any help.

Since you only have one day, this might be tough to fit in. Horseshoe Bay is no problem as it is close to where you are docked. You can get a special bus that goes directly to Horseshoe Bay and takes about a 1/2 hour. The caves are located at the other end of the island near St. George. The problem is not only the time to get to them, but they get crowded by 11AM or so. The walkway into the caves is very narrow and only a small amount of people can go in and out of the caves at a time. You would definitely have time to take a bus to Horseshoe and then a bus to Hamilton, finishing with a ferry ride back to the dockyard (only takes 20 minutes, make sure you take the express not the local, ask.). In Hamilton are the stores, restaurants, even KFC LOL. Fort Hamilton is right in the middle of the city and is a nice destination. They turned the moat into a botanical garden and the views are fantastic.:)

By all means go to Horseshoe Bay and skip the caves. Be sure to walk to the left as you're looking at the water to explore numerous coves. Since you're docked at the dockyard, there are things there to do after the beach. There are shops, a number of the Hamilton stores have branches there. The Maritime Museum, a local crafts market, a glass blowing shop as well as a rum cake factory and a yummy ice ream shop are also there. Don't know how old your children are but Dolfin Quest is there and also a snorkel park, not the best place to snorkel, but would give you and or the children a taste of snorkeling. If you go to the beach for awhile and then back to the dockyard, you won't have to watch your time getting back as carefully if you were to go to Hamilton since the ship is right there.

Just something else for you to consider.

We just got back and are looking into booking a cruise to just Bermuda.

Get off as early as you can. We waited and the lines for the bus/ferry passes were very long. Wait for the correct bus. We decided to try another "route" and it took us forever. I wish we had just waited in line!!!

We ended up at Church Bay which was absolutely beautiful and if you have any snorkelers, hubby said it was the best he's ever seen.
