Basketballs/Ping Pong Paddles on Glory

I thought I read somewhere that in order to play basketball or ping pong, you have to "check them out" at the pursers desk. Is that true?

I was just on the glory in July and you get the Basketballs from the attendant who has the towels to sign out on the Lido Deck. Right next to the basketball court is a volleyball court. I don't recall seeing a ping pong table.

Does anyone ever toss the b-ball around? Is the court facing the ocean? I think that would be a lot of fun.

On the Sensation a few years back--they left the paddles out for anyone to use. By mid week there were no paddles or no balls. So I think its good that people have to sign them in and out now.
