Dive with Martin in Coz

I have heard good things about Dive with Martin in Coz. I am thinking of renting a private boat for 4 divers at a quoted price of $300. Not bad considering the cruise (RCCL Mariner of the Seas) offers cattle boats for almost $100 apiece. Wife is an experienced diver but gets a little nervous in the catttle boats, so the private boat is worth the extra $ even if we can't split the cost with other divers.

Have any of you done the private boat with Martin? Do you tip/ how much? More flexibility? Any advice or comments on doing this?

Thank you.

We've used Dw/M several times. Going out with only 3 or 4 divers is great. With their fast boats you get to the dive sites quick...before most of the other boats so you don't have other groups at the site interfering. You'll spend your time in between dives at one of the beach clubs, which is nice. Last trip it was at Palancar Beach. You'll have the Boat Capt. & the DM on board, so we usually tip them $20 ea.....and feel it is worth every penny. You'll also get back quick enough to enjoy some of the other activities on the island. We usually catch a cab over to El Capi Navigante for some great food & margaritas after the dive and then enjoy the buzz while cruising the shops.

You might check on your cruises Roll Call to pick up another diver or two if it is only the two of you.

Tip what you like, don't let anybody tell you what to tip. The nice answer is is that yes, tips are customary on dive boats .... it's like alot of other service professions - they work hard and dont make huge amounts of money so tips are important to them. But don't be intimidated to tip a certain amount if you have a bad time. On the flip side, if they go out of their way (we always feel especially so on a private charter) try to take extra good care of them.
