we just got are upgrade to 5a cabin 4188.

do these doors still open ?

and it the first cabin in the row is the view any better?

I would think the first cabin may not be much better, since you are in an inside corner (you will have a wall on one side)

Read the earlier post, and request one of the cabins where the doors open to a gap between life boats. The deck plans on Carnival's site show which rooms -- provided they are accuarate.

I think the Legend is a Spirit-class ship right? I have pictures of my french door cabin from the Pride, the sister ship...click on the link in my signature. One side of the door opened, but since there is no balcony, you can not step out. The rooms between the lifeboats offer a better view.
