suron Posted August 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2007 The celebration packages (honeymoon, anniversary, special occasion) that come with champagne...what kind is it? We did consider the anniversary package for our trip on Grand Princess to the Norwegian Fjords and North Cape 16-28 July 07. However we formed the opinion that the champagne would probably not be the greatest vintage (and we would prefer a red wine anyway), two champagne flutes would be little use to us on our return home, we were not over-worried about the chocolate dipped strawberries, we have enough good photo frames of our own at home and we felt we could get a good photo of ourselves by using our own camera if someone was willing to take it for us. As it happened we had joined a Roll Call and one of the group had the most superb camera and she took a super photo of us on formal night and has offered to have it mounted and post on to us from her home in Wales to us some 40 miles away. We decided to save the £95 that the package would have cost but we used some of this to enjoy a meal in the Steakhouse restaurant (Painted Desert) - in fact 17 of our Roll Call members joined together for this meal and they helped us celebrate our 40th Anniversary that night. The meal was excellent, the service first class and the atmosphere relaxing and we even found room for the cake presented to us at the end of the meal - we did share it out with some of the others present! This was well worth the $15 a head extra charge. Personally I would say save your money and do your own thing - just my view but we still have some funds over which we plan to use towards a whale-watching excursion when we do the second part of our anniverary celebration in New England in Sept (Land Tour this time) Regards Suron
