Short Term Parking

Does anyone know if there is short term parking at the port in Oahu? We will have a rental car and want to bring our bags to the ship and then go aboard. We are hoping to park the car for about 1-2 hours while we embark and get a bite to eat, and then we will bring the car back to rental agency and take shuttle back to ship by 4 for muster. Has anyone done this and how has it worked out?

What Cruise line and what dates? Different ships park at different piers which changes the answer to your question.

Sorry, I didn't mention the name of the ship. It is the Pride of Hawaii on August 27. Do some piers have parking and others not have it? I have never been to Hawaii so I'm not familiar with the area.

I'm pretty sure you will be docking at pier 2. The posted link shows a map of the harbor area and if you look at pier 2, you will see pier 5 almost next to it. Actually it's 5 & 6.

This is a parking lot, not exactly cheap but should be close enough to drop off luggage and check in.

Just checked the schedule and you are docking at pier 2.http://www.hawaii.gov/dot/harbors/oahu/2007cruise.htm

Yet another site showing the Aloha Tower complex. If I read it right, parking is $3 per hour. If you were going to do any shopping at Aloha Tower, you could get the parking validated:)

Thanks Bug Dan,

Is it possible to just check the bags in without going aboard? That way we wouldn't have to park anywhere.

We would just keep our carry ons with us. Do you know if the bag area is outside? I have been to quite a few different ports and the baggage check in area is sometimes on the outside. I know when we cruised out of Long Beach is was a separate building.

Kat,

Sorry I don't really know. Last we were there pier two wasn't used for embarkation. I would certainly think you would be able to turn your luggage over to one of the baggage handlers as long as they had the tags on with your cabin number. In all probability there would be some sort of unloading area that you could drive up to and someone would take your luggage.. When I first saw that parking price, I thought it was $3 per hour, then I saw that was just the first hour, after that it's $3 per half hour.
