Pollypops Posted August 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2007 Hi, we will be in Elba on 25th September, myself and my 85 year old mother who walks very slowly with a stick. I am not too keen on coach tours, is Portoferraio nice to spend time in, have a wander round etc. I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has been to Elba. Thanks. Rare carlmm Posted August 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2007 Yes, Portofino is nice to spend time in but unfortunately it probably will be hard for your mother. Unless you stay directly at the waterfront every way includes steep uphill walking. Napoleon's palace, the old walls, the theatre, the churches, everything is uphill. The only sight on ground level is the museum which is at the far end of the town port.
treesah Posted August 7, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2007 I'm sure you meant Portoferraio instead of Portofino. Regards...
