operafan Posted August 10, 2007 #26 Share Posted August 10, 2007 We've done AA, Delta and US Air from DFW. You learn from experience! Our Barcelona r/t in November will be on an American Airlines 777 to Gatwick, then on BA to Barcelona. After taking Delta to Europe twice, I'll never do it again. Cramped 767 & inedible food, much like our US Air flight to Venice. Once was enough for that airline, too...........
AZjohn Posted August 10, 2007 #27 Share Posted August 10, 2007 You could do a lot worse than fly with Aer Lingus direct from Chicago to Dublin and then onwards with Aer Lingus to Barcelona. A return flight from Chicago to Dublin in November is about $194 each way - works out at $468 after charges.Depending on the day you can get an each way flight from Dublin to Barcelona for as little as $20 plus tax. I don't know why but I keep forgeting about Aer Lingus:confused: . Flew them once and it was a great experiance and price. And, I'm always up for a layover of a night or two in Ireland (great people and great country):D . John
RainbowKrewzer Posted August 17, 2007 #28 Share Posted August 17, 2007 Which airline has the most comfortable seats, better perks (free English speaking movies, free meals, free drinks, etc.), and good service? We're taking a flight from Chicago to Barcelona in November and it's going to be long, so we want comfort. Any comments would be helpful. Also, do you think prices will drop? There are no direct flights from Chicago to Barcelona, so far and the prices are ranging from 664 to 800. Is that a good price per person? Thanks. Avoid British Airways at all cost, unless you pony up the big £££'s for biz or 1st class. Have always had lousy service on BA, crass flight attendants, and flying through LHR is a nightmare. Lufthansa is much more consistent, but why not try a smaller airline - BMI British Midland via Manchester, Austrian via Vienna, or Virgin - transits LHR, but the service is worlds above BA. Dont count on free booze anymore - it's a thing of the past
go^uk Posted August 17, 2007 #29 Share Posted August 17, 2007 Aer Lingus is cost effective into Dublin. From there Ryanair to Barcelona? I hate ryanair with a passion - very much a budget operator. I would look at BMI from ORD to MAN (Manchester) then Monarch http://www.flymonarch.com/ to BCN. G.
