A Dumb question...are the salmon running?

I have been watching the Grizzlie Cam at McNeil River Falls Sanctuary via the National Geographic site. I've seen plenty of bears, but they appear to just be stainding in the river waiting, presumably for salmon. So my dumb question...are the salmon currently running? Last year I saw the bears catching salmon via the Grizzlie Cam, but, so far, nothing this year.

Thanks!

My husband, the avid Alaska fisherman, states that the reds are about done and the silvers are JUST barely starting (a little late this year-by about 4 days). He talks to his buddy in Homer about every 4 days.

The bears you see are waiting for the last of the spawned out red salmon. Then the bears will move to the coast for the main "haul" of silver salmon. The silvers as a general rule are too big and too heavy to make it very far upstream over all the rocks and boulders.
