shopping

While the sightseeing is a priority one can not forget the sport of shopping. What are some good places people have found in ketchikan, skagway, juneau or prince rupert to shop and what are some of the things you have bought??

I envision a store somewhere that sells warm winter cute kids clothes-anything like that? Also what are some good reputable places to look at art.

Because of time constraints, we did not get past the touristy-close to the pier shops. They all pretty much sell the same stuff. Be careful, with the art. Several shops pushed things as "local crafts" but we found the same stuff in several places -- some with Thailand stickers on the back!!!! Things seemed to be a little cheaper in Skagway than Juneau and Ketchikan vs. Skagway. For example, we found these beautiful whale wind chimes that were $180 in Juneau, $150 in Skagway and $130 in Ketchikan. My advice is therefore this:: If you love it -- go ahead and get it. If you are hesitant - wait to the next port. Odds are you will find it there also at the same or a better price.
