fina Posted August 23, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2004 Hi:) , I will be travelling to Southern Caribbean (San Juan, Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Thomas and St. Marteen) on Oct 17, can someone tell me what the weather is like at that time of the year. I know it will still be warm, but do these islands get a lot of rain. If so, is the rain constant, or just for a short time, and then sun out? Please help!!! Thanks, fina

Assuming no hurricanes the weather is warm, humid and rain usually lasts about 5-10 minutes and like you said - sun back out. Enjoy :)
howard6933 Posted August 23, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2004 Yes, you are correct about the temperatures being on the warm (HOT) side usually all year round in the Caribbean. The only time I've been to the Carib in october we were on Holland America and docked at the "submarine base" on the other side of Charlotte Amalie. We had to take the open taxis to town and it was raining pretty good. However, by the time we got to the town, the rain had stopped and the sun was going full blast. Of course the rain did not cool things off, just made it more humid. To be honest with you, I've been to the Caribbean at least 20-30 times and cannot remember there ever being a rain storm that lasted more than 5 or 10 minutes. Maybe others have had different experiences.
