bugsm Posted August 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2007 We are traveling to Hawaii on the Rhapsody. We have a handicapped room and I wonder what they are like. Whether tendering will be a problem.
leoandhugh Posted August 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2007 Handicapped room could be anything from an inside to a Junior Suite, but they are essentially the same in equipment. Bathroom with grab bars at the toilet and around the roll-in shower. Raised basin in bathroom so wheelchair can wheel under. Shower but no bath - hand held shower head. No lip into bathroom from the cabin or out on to the balcony if your accessible cabin has one. And the cabin door is wide enough to allow entry of either a wheelchair or scooter. The cabin will be about 50% larger than a non-handicapped room in the same category. Tendering at Lahaina (Maui) is sometimes a problem if there are big swells because they cause the tender to rise and fall against the platform at the ship's side. Ship's captain will make a determination once anchored there whether to permit wheelchairs to be tendered or not We will be there in October on Serenade OTS for 2 days,:)
