Cruise to Nowhere

Just booked a cruise to Nowhere out of New York October 18. Absolutely cannot wait. My entire family of 25 just got back from a 4 day. My wife and I figured maybe we could take a cruise and get some selfish time to ourselves!! Has anyone sailed on the cruise to Nowhere recently?

We did the one from Norfolk in June and had a good time. It was way too short and definitely a party ship (which is not really our thing) but was still fun. Not sure I'd do it again unless it were really cheap or at least a 3 day. The main drawback to our sailing was that by the time you started relaxing it was time to get off the ship and that they seemed to use our cruise to close a lot of areas to do maintenance.

I went on one CTN out of N.O. - and once was enough. Although I had a nice little cruise, enjoyed the food and entertainment, I also agree that the crew wasn't quite up to snuff.

The one I was on was a last minute deal, and was only $99. With my single supplement, it was $169 for OV cabin. Still a pretty good deal.

Even though I had an easy hour+ drive to the port, it was 'way too much hassle, and I would never do it again. You're only on the ship for 1.5 days, so think about it.;)

Thanks for the info. I am not expecting much by way of service or entertainment. I used Seamiles to book a balcony cabin, so it is only going to cost $330.00. It will be cheaper than if I took my wife overnight to the casino and I will get 2 nights with her this way. I just hope the ship is clean and the regular amenities (spa, casino, etc.) are open, which I assume they will be as the ship still wants to make money.

Anyone have any idea how far south the ship travels in its loop. Just wondering how warm it will be during the sea day.

matt, i am also going on that date with 6 other crazy women. i just fot off the miracle on Thursday and had a blast, she is a beautiful ship. i went on a 24 hour cruise to nowhere out of ny in june and to bequite honest, i drank a little too much so didnt enjoy it, but i know this will be much better. as far as i am concerned, its a few nights away from the kids and husband...lol. if you have any questions about the ship, just ask. also, someone on carnival told me we will actually be heading toward Bermuda, but i dont know if that is true. will find out more and let you know.

I did the CTN on the Legend (sister ship to the Miracle) last year and you do head towards Bermuda. They go about 200 miles out. When we went the weather the first day was very nice.....low 70s but the next day wasn't as nice as there was a bad windstorm.

Everything will be open, pools, bars, duty free shops, casinos. There is even a formal night on the 2nd/last night....but no gala midnight buffet.

You will have fun but it is just too short. Really only a day and a half.

Just "ditto"-ing what some other's have already said. We've done two and had fun both times, but it was too short and the second one had a very rough crowd. We said after the first one that we wouldn't go again unless the price was right. Well, it got right and we went again. After this one we said, ok, that was enough!

All that being said, Go on your cruise! Enjoy yourself and just don't set your expectations too high!

Almost forgot one BIG plus! The duty free shops are open, but there is no customs, so you can take off as much as you can carry! We stocked up on Sheridans!

Did you leave on the Legend out of NY also?

Yeah and I didn't realize that and we only took 2 bottles.:( This time when we went on the Miracle to St. Thomas we brought back 12 bottles. :D Since we live in NY we didn't have to worry about packing it for a flight.

Nope, Victory out of Norfolk. 1 1/2 hour drive helped the decision too!

We left out of NY so it was just a cab ride away. I would never drive far or fly for a CTN....definitely not worth it. And it was very expensive also. Cost almost as much for that cruise as it did for the 8 nighter on the Miracle.

I wondered if that crowd was the norm for a CTN. I would only go again if it were dirt cheap - we booked about a month out and got a $199pp deal this time but it would almost have to be cheaper than that. Might also consider another one if it left on Friday and were a three day.

I am glad to hear that the ship will be in full swing. I am surprised that there is a formal night.

How was your weekend CTN??? Let me know if you have a minute.

A lot of people didn't know there would be a formal night but I knew because I asked so many questions on this site. :p

We hope to book the two nighter out of Boston Dec 15. It is like a weekend getawaypre Xmas gift. We dock Monday morning at 8am for those who have to work that day.

Sandi, we cruise on Princess, NCL, RCCL, and Carnival. We've only had one unpleasant experience on all our cruises, and we still enjoy the variety of shows and decor and ships on different lines. We have two RCCL cruises and one short Carnival cruise booked over the next year, but we are still hoping to book NCL Dawn for Bermuda next Spring.

What we always look forward to on NCL is all the dining options. We cruised NCL Star to Alcapulco last February and loved it. We tried as many different restaurants as we could and really enjoyed the food and service. I even tried a TexMex restaurant one night. It gave us the opportunity to try things we would never have tried before. We loved LeBristro, but most of all, we enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. We did dine in the main dining room at least two or three nights, but it was nice to have so many specialty restaurants with fees of only $15 and half of them with no fee at all.

Did you have a balcony cabin Toni?

The Dawn does look very nice, but I'm not so sure I would like that Freestyle dining every night.

Yes we had a balcony.. it was very small but we loved it ... We slept with the door open and the ac off... it was amazing

I really can say if i would like freestyle.. i didnt think i would but i really cant make that judgement call on a one night cruise..but having the options for this one night wasnt bad either.. It was really worth going on!
