Any good excursions that you can WALK to from the pier? Either Cruise/independent

Are there any good excursions that are walkable from the pier? Taking transportation back to the pier after the tour is ok.

Some type of island tour ~ it can include snorkeling and beach stops but not necessary. Any ideas are great.

Just looking for something to do that is different than walking around town and having lunch.

Thanks!

Yes, Capt. Marvin's is close by. We've used them in the past. Good tour. Book independently. Also, the "city buses" are just a block up the street. They'll take you anywhere on the island for $2 a person (tour ops at the pier will charge you $15). It's always fun to go mail something from the town of Hell, and you get an 'island tour' while driving there and back... Don't forget to exchange some money at the bank (near the bus stand); the Caymans have the most beautiful dollar bills!

Just wanted to add that the walk to Captain Marvin's is easy--we did it with five kids, four of them under the age of 6! We booked online, a couple of months ahead and had a great time. I'm sure there are other tour providers within easy walking distance also, plus, there will be people at the dock area selling tours.

Grand Cayman is very easy to get around on your own, without going through a tour company and you will save $$. It is very easy to snorkel and go to the beach on your own. To snorkel: from the tender, walk to the right until you get to Eden Rock. They rent snorkel gear, plus have a bar and restaurant. They have a ladder to get into the water. The snorkeling is amazing (we were there in June- I will attach pictures of the fish). There is not a beach at Eden Rock. On your way to Eden Rock you will see Taxi's/shuttle bus which will take you to seven mile beach (we did this in May, I believe it was $4 per person, each way). There are taxi's waiting at the beach to take you back to the ship. We went to the beach at The Royal Palms. There is no charge to enter the beach and they have a restaurant and bar, free use of their tables and chairs. You can rent lounge chairs and they also have snorkeling and other excursions available right there. There are other beaches the taxi's go to which you can ask them about. We went to Royal Palms after our excursion because it was the closest beach and we were short on time. It is very safe to do this on your own. Having been there twice, we enjoyed not being on a time schedule with a tour.
