Sunshine91 Posted August 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2007 I love maps. Just love 'em. I'm an USAF-ret. navigator's daughter. I could read a map before I could read a book. Whenever I hear (or read) about a new place-name, I want to look it up & find out where it is. But some places are a little more, shall we say, obscure? :) I have found mobilmaps, which is the world-equivalent to US-googlemaps or mapquest. It's just fine for the mainstream places in Europe, but suppose I want to try northern Norway or Greenland? I even tried National Geographic. No better. I'm hoping there are some folks here in the CC community who also love maps & can point me in the right direction to some free on-line maps. Heck, I'm even willing to pay a nominal subscription fee if they're worth it. Thanks. :)

PollyPenguin Posted August 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2007 Have you tried Google Earth - a download from Google. I just zoomed in on Iceland and there seemed to be quite a bit of detail for cities I can't even begin to pronounce!

But what I really love is satellite pictures! Try Sightseeing with Google Satellite Maps http://www.satellite-sightseer.com/ Have fun!
photodoodle Posted August 28, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 28, 2007 I just love maps, too. When I fly, I spend a lot of time scrutinizing the maps in the airline magazine, instead of the articles. Thanks for the links, everyone. Wonder what it is about us map lovers...
