Cell phone service with Verizon in San Juan??

Does anyone know if Verizon customers get cell phone service in San Juan?

Yes, you have coverage (or at least we did in January 2006) with no added fees.

Be careful though once you leave port because in December 2006 we were told that if we saw the roaming icon on the phone, that meant there was coverage and we could use the phone because we had nationwide calling. Imagine our surprise when we received our next bill and there was nearly $100 in charges on it. We called Verizon and they were able to see that we had called to check on coverage and fortunately for us, gave us a refund although they told us that whomever we had spoken to had given us incorrect information.........but in San Juan, you're ok

Yes, no added fees. Actually when I got my bill, it wasn't even on the statement. Just wait until you are fully docked or off the ship.

Hey cruzin' cousin! This is great news so we know that we can stay connected while running the streets of San Juan. I have Sprint, but I'm sure I'll have service as well...I can double check with them. In any event, Andrea has Verizon too...so we are sooo set!
