Rum Point??

Hello everyone!

My wife and I will be in the Caymans in December aboard the Mariner of The Seas. I have been to the island once before on Carnival a few years ago. On that trip I did the Ray's Reef and Rum Point Excursion through Nativeway and had a great time. However, this time around I would just love to relax on the beach. I know 7 mile beach is closer but I love Rum Point. I was wondering if anyone new of any excursion companies that just did the Rum Point without Sting Rays and snorkeling? If not any suggestions on how to get there? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

We rentad a car for the day from this company. http://aviscayman.com/cruise.htm#Pickup_Information

The price was pretty good around $65. They pick you up near the port and drop you off when you return the car. It was about a 40 minute ride to Rum Point. Pretty easy to find. Driving on the wrong side of the road was a little tricky but you get used to it. It was great getting there early before the excursions arrived. We spent about 4 hours there.

We were in Grand Cayman last year and WE LOVED RUM POINT BEACH....!!!icon14.gif

We did EXACTLY what Dave did. We rented a car from Avis. You get picked up at The Blue Iquanna. A shop in town.

The drive from the car rental to Rum Point was easy, just remember to stay on "the other side of the road"......:D But, make sure to pick up a map while you are in the Avis office. Just in case........

The water was PERFECT....!!!:D There are shade trees and I don't think we had to pay for the loungers, they are just there on the beach.:)

We had lunch from the little lunch shack.

It is one of my MOST FAVORITE BEACHES ANYWHERE....!!!!icon14.gif

We have looked and looked for a way to get to Rum Point without finding many options. Nativeway's tour looks awesome but you say you've already done that, and for us, we did not want the sting ray city portion.

You can rent a car which most recommend. We are very hesitant/nervous to rent a car, we prefer to have someone else drive us when we are out of country. I know, we're probably being silly but personal preference.

That said Island Marketing had a private shuttle option that takes you there...

There is also a jeep tour...

And a more expensive option but looks fun is a private boat charter.

Good luck! The cheapest option is definitely just renting a car.

Thanks for the info. I've rented a jeep through Avis, but I sent an e-mail asking about the private tours. If they can or will just take us to Rum Point for the day I may cancel the jeep and let them do the driving. Of course the jeep rental is a lot cheaper. SO we'll see!
