Alaskan Traveler Posted September 20, 2007 #26 Share Posted September 20, 2007 My husband and I are booked for our 1st Celebrity Cruise on the Constellation this November. We have always cruise Royal. We both are ice cream lovers! So much that I bring my own sprinkles!!!Can anyone tell me if Celebrity offers a self serve soft ice cream machine. Royal has them in their WIndjammer Cafe. Thank you Hi CRUIZERS12, The ice cream bar on Celebrity is great. They also have all of the toppings. Try their caramel toping - it is out of this world! The free ice cream bar is a nice touch by Celebrity. On my last Princess cruise they charged for the ice cream bar. If I would have my kids with me, the ice cream tab could have rivaled my bar bill! STXCruisers Posted September 20, 2007 #27 Share Posted September 20, 2007 On our last two cruises, I particularly enjoyed the butter pecan, but they don't have every flavor every day - just have to check in each and every day to see what they have! They did tell me that with the exception of the sugar free ice creams (these were good), all the ice creams were homemade on the ship. Instead of the desserts at lunch and dinner, I ordered a scoop (or two) of ice cream. Being an ice cream lover, I enjoyed this much better than any of the desserts on the menu. barryod Posted September 26, 2007 #28 Share Posted September 26, 2007 The Butter Pecan on Millie last March was out of this world. I found myself going to the gym later in the morning to work off one potatoe from the night before. This would allow me to be dragged, by some mysterious magnet, past the fresh ice cream that just opened up;) . Oh, is it time to pack yet????? Shirley and Les Posted September 27, 2007 #29 Share Posted September 27, 2007 We are ice cream easters tooon our last cruise--one night they did Black peppercorn, and another night Basil Both with a particular pastry dessert. Phenomenal! Our boys asked if there was any left on the next night--but no luck. Are you sure you were at the ice cream station and not the pasta station on Deck 10? ;) Just kidding but they sure sound like unusual flavors. CelebrityMan Posted September 28, 2007 #30 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Hi, Having just returned from escorting a group of 150 aboard Mercury, I can say that for the cruise newbies and veteran travelers in our group, the ice cream — both in the buffet, and at dinner — was one of the tastebud highlights of the cruise. In fact, that first embarkation afternoon, once my group found the buffet area ice cream it was all I could do to pull 'em away for ship tours! Ha, ha.... I think the sorbets are delightful, too. There was a raspberry, a guava, a kiwi, and a red wine sorbet that were simply incredible!! Happy indulging! CM
