Easy fishing

Anyone know of anyplace my grandson could fish from land.....maybe in a river or elsewhere? We will be in Seward, Juneau, ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, and Skagway.

the easiest place would be ketchikan. the salmon weren't running when i was there...but you can rent poles and fish from the boardwalk area, around creek street.

but the river runs right through ketchikan, when the salmon are running you walk through town and watch the salmon at the same time:D

According to what time of the year you are here, if the salmon are running you can fish from the beach for them in Seward.

Thanks so much for the replies. We will be in Seward July 22-25. Hopefully the salmon will be running. Can you rent gear and get a license nearby?

In Juneau, there's a fish shack by the salmon hatchery, DIPAC, where you rent poles and I assume you're given a temporary license. It also has hot dogs, hot chocolate and such. The fish hatchery is worth the tour. You can either take a bus tour, or the city bus, which I assume would be cheaper.
