Im going on my first cruise in May 08, just received my first fifty dollar funship dollar certificate.... it says you must mail them in before your final documents are issued, which i guess would be my last payment....why can't you cash them in for a cash card once you are on the ship or at the pier??? do you really need to send them in??? how will i know they received them?

Funship dollars are not redeemable for cash. You can't use them to pay your gratuities either. They have to be applied before you receive your docs. I don't know why..thems just the rules. :)

From the Carnival website.

You can bring them aboard & give them to the purser. Thye will credit them to your sign & sail account. Many have done this & it's what we're doing next week. I'm sure our tips will come out of that account, too.

I brought my funship dollars with me on the Pride in April and had NO PROBLEM having them applied to my S&S account at the Purser's desk. Don't worry about mailing them in. Just bring them with you, and wait for a day and time when the line at the Purser's desk is short, and you'll have no problem.

Have a great trip!:)

Be nice to a friend or family member so they buy them for you.;)

Or you can go to the Gifts section of carnival's web site, and buy them for yourself. You can even have them applied as on-board-credit, rather than having them mailed to you by typing your booking number and "On Board Credit" in the address section.

I buy these before I sail on a booked cruise. I go to the website and put in all my info except my address. In that line I put in my booking number. Then my money is waiting for me on the ship as an on board credit. I get an e-mail confirmation from Carnival that it is there. If I don't spend it all Carnival issues me a check the last night of the cruise. I use it for tips, excursions, spa, virgin pina coladas and the casino.

The first time I bought them they were sent to my home. I did what it say's to do on the back of the document. Make sure you put your booking number on them and they will be applied to your cruise...or if you prefer an on board credit. Others have said you can take it to the purser desk for the on board credit, but if you are trying to pay off your cruise with it...mail it in. It will be applied.

Have a great cruise.

I asked my PVP and she said she contacted the department. There are three ways to turn in your fun ship dollars. Mail them prior to your trip, turn them into the pursers office or call an 800 number, give them your booking number and they will apply it to your card. You can reach our Special Programs and Promotions department by telephone; toll free, at 1-800-906-7603 during the following hours:

Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm, Eastern Time

This should answer any questions you may have about fun ship dollars.

I tried to turn my "Fun Ship" dollars to the purser's desk on the Pride in February. No luck! They turned it over and showed me how to redeem it. It was a real bummer considering I had was counting on the $100. But it was my fault for not reading the back of the certificate. Fortunately, I am going on the Triumph in February '08 and will use it then. This time I will mail it in before I go just to be safe. I don't know why I had bad luck and the other's on this thread didn't. But if it were me, I would just send it in beforehand. Especially considering I "lost" the certificate for awhile. Thank goodness I found it and it's in a safe place until I can get to the post office to mail it in. Happy sailing to all!!!
