Taxi up Mt. Etna?

We are tendering into Giardini-Naxos. Will it be possible to get a taxi from the dock which will take us up Mt. Etna?

 

Is there a limit on how high up it will go? Will we need to take an alternative method of transportation to get to the top for tourists?

A taxi cannot take you all the way to the top - there is no road. I don't knwo, I'm afraid, how easy it is for small parties on their own to proceed up the mountain. (You do know it's over 10,000 feet high?)

 

I'm sure your cruise line will be providing Etna excursions. Alternatively, there are companies in the Catania region who offer tours. Here's a link to one I just picked on the internet:
