Rapunzal Posted September 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2007 Just been having a look on the internet and have found "Sun Destinations" car rental on St Barts, has anyone used them or heard of them? Would prefer to use a company that other cruisers have used really.
Rapunzal Posted September 30, 2007 Author #2 Share Posted September 30, 2007 Just noticed that you've rented a car previously in St Barts, can you recommend a car rental firm there? Thanks a lot.
Martita B. Posted September 30, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2007 Another idea ~~~rent a mini-moke. This is a 'lit vehicle like a golf cart (roof & windshield) that seats 4. You can run all over St. Barts in this 'lit "buggy!" Have fun!:o Martita B.
Rapunzal Posted September 30, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted September 30, 2007 Hi Martita, where do we reserve one of these little runabouts from? Anne:)
Martita B. Posted September 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2007 Anne Check with Budget (in town) ~~you'll tender into St. Barts then ask where Budget is located. Or you may even try "googling" and reserving one on line. Happy Sailing MB
johnnycruise Posted September 30, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2007 I have used National/Alamo twice in the past with good results. Make sure you specify the "city" rather than the "airport" location. Their office is on the Place d'Armes three short blocks to the right of the tender pier in the local hardware store called "Chez Beranger" - all of the locals can point you that way if you get lost. They will let you leave the car at the tender parking lot if you want to return it after hours which is very convenient (you can also park the car there <<no charge>> if you want to go back on board for lunch). No place on the island is more than a 20 minute drive away. The best beaches are Grand Salines, Gouverneurs, St. Jean and Flamands. All four have parking. The "hip" place of the moment for a high-end beachfront lunch is Nikki Beach at St. Jean. johnny
Rapunzal Posted October 2, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted October 2, 2007 Thanks Johnny for the info on Alamo, very reasonable aren't they! Do you think 9am until 5pm is long enough??? May not be able to be away from the Pride any longer ;) Anne :)
