Is sunset beach construction done?

We will be in Jamaica Oct 18. Is the construction at sunset beach done yet? We have 50 people going so we don't want any surprises.

Not even close to being done, we were there last week (Sept 25th) on the Liberty.

 

The only pool open was around the waterpark. This pool is only ablut 3 feet deep. There was very little shade available on the beach or by the pool. Three bars were open, along with the beach grill and the normal lunch restaurant. The food wasn't anything special but the drinks were tasty and freeflowing.

 

We counted 20 people total at the resort that day. We had everything to ourselves. Amazing they would keep the place open with only that many people attending.

 

Would we go back?? Yes we would. We had a very nice time.

Do they still set up a buffet at lunch?

Yes, they still set up a buffet.

 

It had several salad and side dish options with about four main entrees along with a dessert table.

What was the noise like? We don't mind seeing the construction equipment but we don't want to hear it all day

There were constrction trucks going up and down the beach on a pretty regular basis. You could not hear (or see) the trucks from the pool. Around the pool we only heard construction noise (hammering & sawing) if we were on the end closest to the construction. Noise was pretty noticeable by the beach grill as that is where most of the construction is taking place.

Has anyone just returned from sunset beach? The info we got from them is that the noise is tolerable. Does anyone have an update? We will be there Oct 18

Hello to all cruisers,

I just called MoBay Sunset Beach and asked about the construction. It is still underway but the pool and waterpark are open. I was told that the day rates are 60 for adults and 40 for kids. Is this close to what you were charged recently?
