That is exciting. Sounds like they want that "Friendliest Ship on the Seas" mantle that RH held.

 

Very very pleased with the reports.

 

The Guest Relations desk has a Texas flag properly displayed on the wall. The assistant GR manager, Sylvia, was from RH also. She is a great addition to the crew. We met her on her first day on RH and she signed on VY on Dec 8th (with us). It was such a treat to welcome her to her new Texas ship.

Yes you can rent ice skates in any size and it is free! To skate you must have on pants but the air itself is not that cold when i skate i have on a pair of pants and a short sleave shirt!:D

I read something somewhere else, that there are special skate times for people who have their own skates. Is this true? My daughter wants to pack ice skates, inline skates, plus all her scuba gear.....help...don't want that much stuff if not needed.

Yes you can bring your own skates and yes they have a few certain times during the week (morning) set aside for that reason. My boy's play hockey so they always shlep theirs along in their luggage. They do not bring along their in-line skates though, they never do that on-board. I would tell her to leave her in-lines at home and the scuba gear as well. Snorkel gear yes (we always do), scuba no, but that's just my opinion of course!

When I was on the Voyager, Mariner and the Explorer there was no special time for people who have there own ice skates but for inline skating you could go anytime if you have your own roller blades but don’t get caught! lol:D

Mariner and Explorer and I THINK Freedom had the special time. I know for sure MOS and EOS did though. I watched them one morning at like 10am.

The next time they slept though it :p I wonder if they still offer that though.

I don’t know because when I was on the Mariner and the Explorer like 6 months ago RCCL did not offer that so maybe things have changed?

Oh well, guessmaybe they discontinued it. They only went once during the week anyway, they liked to skate with their friends and hang our for awhile anyway! But I have to admit, it is one of the first things on the compass because it is early in the morning. We all actually skipped right over it because our whole family are late sleepers! One afternoon, like day 4 I finally saw it listed, I never read anything before 11:00a:o

Thanks for the help. I'll let her take the ice skates and leave the in-line home, she likes the ice skating better. Gotta have that scuba gear....she just go certified....no snorkel for her....she's going down with the big fish! She just turned 13 so it will be interesting what she sees.

sounds great! I don't know, but isn't the scuba gear huge and heavy? I am trying to picture all the gear and it seems like so much to bring along, but like you said, she's very excited and wants her own things, like my boy's and their hockey skates I guess!!

Actually the scuba gear is times 3!!! Husband, son and daughter! Not taking tanks, just BA's and wet suits, masks and fins....funny thing, I save quarters for the casino so I don't feel the loss if I loose and husband is telling ME to travel lighter!!! lol :cool:

Too fuuny! Ok, I was thinking tanks. I was like "oh my she's going to have to pay extra for the weight at the airport!"

I am curious about the aft balconies, do the balconies have connecting doors that you can open?

 

Does anyone have recent Compass, Portofinos and dining room menus they wouldn't mind sharing? The first group is coming back tomorrow from the first Galveston cruise. I am curious to know how the porter situation was in the CBP area. We had a hard time finding a porter and that is a worry for those who carry scuba gear and all with them. Although I do agree, scuba gear should go where ever you go even if it is bulky.

 

Countree Bee have you heard of or done any cenote diving? My DH is set on trying this. Do you know some good spots?

Good question. My DH is also interested in this. Seems like we have always been able to watch it in the past. I remember watching a Dallas game on Monday night football on the Princess MUTTS screen. It was awesome!:D

I know what you mean! The MUTS was one of our favorite things on the Grand Princess. We watched Monday Night Football, as well as movies during the day.

 

I can't wait for the first wave of cruisers to return from the Voyager to get the lowdown on EVERYTHING for our upcoming cruise!

My husband and kids are the divers. I asked and he has heard of that type of diving....they are not doing that. The have a place in grand cayman that they will be doing their own dives, and in Cozumel they have booked with someone and a boat. Anyone going on 1/6 and going to be alone in grand cayman and cozumel...I need a "bar" partner....darn...I have nothing to do but visit the frog in cozumel...lol
