outahere2 Posted October 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2007 Anyone one had success with using Walkie Talkies on NCL Ships? Never tried them on a NCL ship, but we have tried them on Disney's ships. Whether or not they worked was pretty "hit or miss". It really depended on where we were on the ship (there's a lot of metal to block the signal). After trying them on 2 cruises, we decided to leave them home...... not worth them taking up space in the luggage.
retiredonthesea Posted October 14, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2007 Same with us we took them along, but found alot of static and couldn't use them alot of places. Worked good off ship, but then we usally stayed together so now leave them at home. Retiredonthesea
CanadianTwosome Posted October 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2007 Hmmmm... good to know, thanks. We had every intention of taking ours on the last cruise but forgot them at home! ha ha ha We're going to give them a try on the next one. It's good to know in advance that there may be issues, but we'll hope for the best. The case doesn't take up much room, so worst case scenario will be that we just keep them packed.:)

cruise4kicks Posted October 14, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 14, 2007 I'll echo what everyone else here has said -- they don't work well enough to be worth lugging them along. We couldn't even communicate with my Dad who was only four doors down the hall! We always wound up stepping out on our balconies to get a coherent connection; by that point we might as well have simply shouted at each other. :p
Toyz711 Posted October 15, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2007 you have to be careful to not use a channel that interfers with the ones the crew use. then there all the other using theirs, like someone said..you here a kids ask "mommy" and 10 people answer. i used a small dry erase board that hung from the door handle...really good for leaving a message for anyone looking for me. others used sticky notes. if you really want to get in touch with someone, text them.
