Best time to board for 10pm sailing?

Booked on Dec. Galaxy sail out of San Juan, and the ship doesn't leave till 10pm. Anyone care to advise what is the best time to board? How early does the ship open for the new guests if we go early?

We just got off the Constellation last week. We sailed at 5 pm. They let us get on the ship at 12:00. We like to get on the ship as early as possible to have time to put clothes away, explore the ship.,etc. That first day counts as one of the days on the ship so we like to get on very early. I would get on by 12:00 if they let you.

We sailed on the Galaxy earlier this year, leaving out of San Juan with the 10 pm departure time. Our flight landed around 12:30 pm, and we got to the pier around 1:15-1:30 pm, and there was already a line by then. People definitely started boarding around noon. It was nice to board early as we had plenty of time to grab a quick bite to eat, explore the ship, and relax before dinner / departure. And yes, even by boarding so early, the champagne and escorted guide to the cabins were all ready to go! :)

We sailed Adventure out of SJ in '04. We had stayed over the night before and took the cruiseline shuttle to the ship. We arrived around 1:15, zipped through check-in and went to the buffet for lunch. I really like getting on the ship at lunch time.

Thanks, everyone. I was thinking of going on board at 3, but looks like we have an option to go a lot earlier! Now it depends on how much San Juan interests us, and we can go on to the ship early or later.
