Tourist Card for Panama

Recommended Posts

We have this port of call - Fuerte Amador, Panama (for Panama City)

I called all the consulates / Embassies to verify with each of the ports of call whether toursit card or visa's were required to enter. We have a Canadian passport and a Australian passport. ( but it's noted that also for US citizens)

The Panama Embassy stated that we require a Tourist Card, which we get when we enter port for $5 or some travel agents sell ahead of time. Does anyone know whether indeed this is the case, seems a little odd that they would process some 2500 tourist cards at the port of Panama?

I have called several consulates but I struggle with the communiaction barriers.

Please help !!!

We were in Panama, by cruise ship, in Feb 07 and did not have any visa or tourist card. They did not check passport or other documentation. This also means that you do not have your passport stamped - the one thing about cruising I do not like. I love to have record of my travels in my passport.

I do not know if anything has changed. Maybe someone who has been to Panama within the last few months could also respond.

Enjoy Panama!
