Yukon Jeep Adventure in Skagway

I'm looking for any reviews on this excursion. I would really like to rent a car and do it ourselves, but my husband wants to do the ship sponsored Jeep adventure. Any comments?

we are renting a car from Avis for $65 full size car,and doing the ride ourselves. There is only one road so you can't get lost. There is a lot written on this site about how great it is on your own, and if you go back and read the threads there is a milepost that someone put together with all stops along the way. We are then horsebacking riding with Yukonhorses.com. It is the only stop that we are doing totally on our own, since we are booking the same horseback riding locally on our own instead of with an entire day tour.

We rented a car when we went last summer and had a blast. We drove up the Hwy into Canada and even got to see a bear by the side of the road. There was nobody on the Hwy so we sat an watched it for about 10 minutes! We drove all the way to Emerald Lake and came back to town to eat. After that we drove to Dyea and walked around on the hiking trails. Have a great time.
