Galveston Cruise Traffic and Bike Rally 10/31-11/04/08

Do any of you wonderful people who live in the Galveston area have any road reports or other words of wisdom for those of us cruising this weekend? How bad will the bike rally be on Harborside Drive? Also, any construction going on? Thanks for all your help.

Many of the bikers come down Friday. I'll take 45 home this afternoon about 3pm so I can give an update. As far as construction, I don't think there is any this weekend. Harborside should be fairly clear, but Broadway is going to be a nightmare. I'll post in our roll call what I find.

We were there to cruise when the Lone Star Bike Rally was going on. We came on Sat and some roads was closed. Do not stay at the strand district during this time. It was very frustrating situation. I hope you have better luck.

That link should help those of you coming down I-45. It's live camera feeds of the entire Gulf Freeway. If you see a little red Chevy Metro southbound between 3-330pm today, it's me...:D

Hi Lanie & Bill! I work on the island and commute back and forth. As of today, I've already noticed lots of motorcycle traffic. Also check out the city's website cityofgalveston.org I think you'll find information there on road closures, etc. Happy cruising....I'll be on the Conquest the week after Thanksgiving and CAN HARDLY WAIT!!
