I'm going on the Legend at the end of November. I have a couple more questions, as I am a little anxious! First, what things do you do on "sea" days? Also, how many formal nights do you have (my cruise is 7 days)? What drinks are free? Coffee? How much is an average alcoholic drink, say a beer? What kind of beer does the ship have? Sorry all the questions...I just have never done this before and need some advice! Thanks so much for your help.

I can try and answer some of your questions. On sea days, I usually take part in some of the on board activities like bingo, art show or just stroll the ship and people watch. So basically I am relaxing. On a 7 day cruise, there are 2 formal nights. Regarging the free drinks, the only place where I have been that I can give info on was the past guest party. Coffee is offered free on the lido deck but if you want some of the better stuff, I usually go to the special coffee spot (each ship has a different name) and there my drink of choice is a mocha! I hope some of this helps out.

Welcome ecat! I'll answer what I can:

1. Sea Days. You can lounge in the sun or go into the pool. There are normally organized activities (such as pool games, indoor games - bean bag toss, etc., bingo, casino, trivia). Some have fees (bingo and casino) but lots to do for free. You can also go to the library and get games to play or read. Or, just find a nice spot, indoors or outdoors, and stare at the beautiful blue ocean (I love doing that).

2. Formal Nights. There are 2 in a 7 day cruise.

3. Free Drinks. Tea, Coffee, Iced Tea, Milk, Lemonade (some vessels) and juice. At dinner, you can also have cappuchino and espresso. The "Coffee Bar" mentioned by Giggles is a "charge" area - sort of like a floating Starbucks.

4. Drink Costs. We do not drink very much. I think a beer is around $3.50?? Soda is about $2. Someone else can probably run through a list for you.

5. Beer Types. I know of Amstel Light, Heinekin, Budweiser, and I think I saw Coors (or Coors Light) and/or Miller as well. They had quite a list.

Happy Cruising!! :)

Welcome to Cruise Critic

:) Dont be sorry for the Questions we all have been there...Im glad there is a place like this to be able to ask the questions too.

First off Sea Days for me are the best, I do as much as possible there is always things to do I spend time cramming as much food in my mouth as i can ..Casino, The shows in the evening, they have clubs, karaoke, several things during the day like trivia, hairiest chest contest,

free drinks that i remember coffee, tea, juices, I always get a soda card so i dont really think about it..

if you wish you can buy Drink vouchers prior to your cruise through carnival for $21.50 for 4 drinks. premium drinks they will charge seperatly for but that includes tax and tips.

On sea days, I just lay by the pool (get some sun, read, play with my kids, etc.). I try to spend every waking minute outside on the sea days. There are not too many drinks that are free. Like the previous poster mentioned, they are free at the captain's party. Also, there is usually lemonade, fruit punch, and tea up on the lido deck. I would say the average price of a drink is around $5, maybe a little more. The ship will have all of the "normal" beers. Just like a regular bar. This has been pointed out many times on here, but remember.... you do not have to drink what they serve at the captain's party. You are welcome to ask the waiter for a specfic drink, or better yet (you will get it quicker) head to the bar yourself and ask for your drink of choice.

On sea days, the ship has a lot of activities planned. You will get a Caper's which is the ships program every day. They have Hairy Chest contests, Newlywed/Not so Newlywed games, Bingo, always the Casino if it's your thing, Trivia games, their version of Survivor, things like that. I don't have a Caper's in front of me right now so I'm doing this on memory. Dance classes, shore tour talks, specials in the jewelry dept, free alcohol tasting one evening. There are two formal nights on this cruise. Usually your first day at sea and the night before your last day at sea as you'll be packing your bags on your last sea day. Drinks are about the same as you pay at your local Ruby Tuesday's, Applebee's, etc, with a per drink gratuity added on. You can't get away from that. You can get coffee, iced tea and fruit juices in the buffet at no charge. They also have water if you drink it by the glass. The tap water in your room is just fine. It is very pure filtered water. They have bottled water in your room for a charge. I think it was $3.50 a bottle, about a 32 oz size. I have been on four cruises with Carnival and I always drink the water from the tap. In the dining room in the evening they offer cappacino, expresso at no extra charge, but only in the dining room in the evening. They have a coffee bar where you can purchase specialty coffees, kind of like Starbuck's. Oh, back to the beer question, they have quite a few varieties with some on the expensive side. I think a bucket of 5 like Budwiser or Miller, your run of the mill beers, was $20. If you like, you can email me at valthom@comcast.net and I will pull out my Caper's from our Oct 2007 cruise and give you a little more infomation. I keep everything!!!
