KOOLBEANS Posted November 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2007 Hi, I have two rumcakes which I am treasuring. I don't think my family cares for them much so can I cut them and put in freezer bags and then freeze? I would hate to have to thaw out the entire cake for just myself. We have been back 3 weeks and I have not done anything with them yet. Thanks for you input!
twinkletoes4445 Posted November 12, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2007 I've not cut them up and put them in small bags, but I have tossed an open package (we ate part of the cake) into the freezer. I put it inside a ziplock freezer bag and when I took it out a month or so later, it was fine. Just try and make sure their is as little air in the bag as possible and I think it should be fine. :)
Scooter-n-GB Posted November 12, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2007 We picked up one on GC on or about Sept 20th of this year, and it is still good. Just wrapped in plastic wrap. I think these things are spoilage resistant. :p

twinkletoes4445 Posted November 13, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 13, 2007 Thanks so much....just didn't want to waste any good rum cake!! I don't blame you! I found an unopened cake that was tucked way in the back of my freezer. Who knows how long it had been there, but it was quite tasty. Like Scooter said, I think they are spoil resistant. Must be all the rum. :)

KandCsailing Posted November 15, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 15, 2007 With all the booze in them they should freeze well in small pieces. Just like my homemade fruitcakes.
