taxi to Port of Miami?

We just made a reservation at the Summerfield Suites at Miami airport, which we got for a great rate and includes parking. They don't have a free shuttle service but we can take a taxi (4 of us) to and from the port. We're wondering if we should take advantage of the free parking & take the taxi or just drive ourserves and have our car at the port when we get off the ship. Will we be dropped off near the baggage handlers? We don't travel lightly!!! Our other concern is when our cruise is over, will we have to wait long for a taxi to take us back to the hotel or are there more than enough waiting in line? Please help - thanks!
