popsec Posted November 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2007 We had a strange thing happen when we arrived at the cruise terminal. The top of our edocs read "procede to VIP checkin upon arrival at the terminal". All of our edocs have said this in the past but this time when we showed our paperwork to the 1st stop at the terminal we were handed an Express check-in pass. Anyone else have this happen? We had a regular balcony cabin and won't be platinum until our Jan 18 cruise. It didn't make much difference in this case because there were no lines, no waiting and everyone got on the ship right away.
sharonh1885 Posted November 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2007 lucky you.. I have our nineth Carnival cruise coming in less than two weeks and my edocs say nothing about VIP check-in and we also have a balcony cabin.

That's weird because our edocs have always said "proceed to VIP checkin" but this was the first time anyone noticed it....

sharonh1885 Posted November 20, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 20, 2007 reread the docs last night and sadly there is no mention of proceeding to vip anywhere. :( Oh well, I will be happy to be aboard the ship no matter how long the line is to get aboard. nowendy Posted January 10, 2008 #14 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Now that you mention it. The last cruise we went on (our 9th) we waited in line meet with the check in lady. After we were all finished she went get our s&s cards and they had a VIP tag. She took us to the VIP lounge and we were escorted to the front of the line for our pictures. We couldn't figure it out, but who was to question our good faith. We were VIP. The bubble didn't last too long though because that was the only VIP treatment we got. Oh well, in 3 weeks we go on our 10Th and will take advantage of all the perks.

No, I'm not a travel agent (though my DH says I should be since I'm always checking prices and getting us OBC's and gifts). We cruise in 4 days and I think this time I'll just go the the VIP checkin like the edocs say to do and see what happens...

GoinCruisin Posted January 11, 2008 #18 Share Posted January 11, 2008 I had this happen on my last cruise... I'm not platinum and had a standard balcony cabin, but had VIP check-in... I was the GL of over 100 people so at first I thought that was it, but several other non-platinum people in our group had it as well, and many didn't... didn't seem to be a rhyme or reason, but someone mentioned it was a glitch in the system. hawks066 Posted January 29, 2008 #22 Share Posted January 29, 2008 I'm trying to figure out what is on these EDocs? I login to my reservations and I click on my documents but there isn't a whole lot I can do there except make sure my Fun Pass is complete. Am I looking in the wrong direction? familyof4cruising Posted January 29, 2008 #25 Share Posted January 29, 2008 Well, lucky you. We received our documents last week for our 2/16 Freedom cruise- It does say Proceed to the VIP line. This is our 10th Carnival Cruise so we are Platinum , but I really never noticed it until you told me to go look.
