hiseaslady Posted December 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2007 Have any Australians booked a cruise via one of the American cruise websites that offer "last minute specials" and "hot deals". I know (now!) that I'm not allowed to name them on here. I'm looking at booking such a cruise perhaps in the USA/Asia/Transatlantic as the cost savings over going through an Australian agent seem significant. Are there any pitfalls? Thanks heaps, RR
aussietravels Posted December 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2007 We have used one particular American cruise website four times over the past couple of years for cruises to Alaska and the Baltic. All went very well and far cheaper than what we can purchase the same cruises for in Australia. We are also looking forward to two more cruises booked via the same website - one for travel around New Zealand in January 2008 and the other around South America in March 2008. winnyd Posted December 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2007 We're Canadians & use U.S TA s all the time on the Web With never any problems. Have changed Cabins added insurance etc We often don't know where they are located or care. There is some rules that are different that you have to live with.Such as this fuel surcharge they have just added which we had to pay but is illegal to charge in our country once you have booked.( Carnival is actualy refunding Canadians) Can't see why it should be any different for you Guys down there they send you a confirmation of your booking that you print . Once they have received your money. The rate of exchange is the same as in the paper for that time.Only problem is, theres 15% added to the final onboard Ship bill For Cdns on most cruise lines because of our exchange rate .Yet our money is the same or higher at the moment. Another difference. We don't Qualify for some Past passenger privilages such as early embarkation because we have to go through Foreign passenger line up(Queue)
