Getting to Brisbane Terminal

Hi guys, sorry if this has been posted before, but i was after some advice on getting to the Brisbane terminal. We are flying into Coolangatta and then planning on hiring a car and either stay on Gold Coast or head up to the Sunshine Coast for a few days. The hire car either needs to get dropped off at Brisbane airport or somewhere in the city - but what im wondering is how to get from Brisbane city or the airport to where the boat leaves from. Are there shuttles etc or will I need to get a cab?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There are a couple of threads about hire cars and Portside etc:

As for getting to the terminal, there is the City Cat which leaves from South Bank and various other stops along Brisbane River and goes to Bretts Wharf, a few hundred metres walk to Portside. There is always the taxi option. There are a couple of parking stations located around 5 km from the terminal and near Brisbane airport. I'm not sure if you will be able to use their shuttles, although if you are dropping off a hire car, you may be able to. It may be worth an email to them: http://www.bap.com.au and http://www.priorityairportparking.com.au are a couple that come to mind. Good luck!!

Suncoast Pacific/Greyhound Australia now stop at Brisbane Cruise Terminal (Portside) on Request. Unsure if you can take it just from Brisbane Airport or Transit Centre though, or how much it costs.

I can vouch for the city cat option, having used it to get from the terminal into the city yeasterday morning. Was a very convenient and cheap ($2.70) way of getting from the ship to the city and vice versa.

Would therefore suggest that you drop your rental car off in the city and then get the ferry to Brett's Wharffrom one of the ferry stops in the city. Details and timetable info can be found at www.translink.qld.gov.au/qt/TransLin.nsf/index/ferry_main.

Cheers

Bob
