Port Everglades to PBI Transportation?

I rented a car for one way transport from PBI to Port Everglades for $27. However, following disembarkation on December 22 the car rental companies all want $100+ for one day (actually just a few hours) from FLL to PBI...that's 4X more than the previous week!:eek:

 

I've seen the Tri-Rail mentioned on these boards. Is it reliable enough to get me to PBI for a 4pm flight? Any other suggestions for reasonably priced transport from Port Everglades to PBI? Thanks in advance!

It may work out for you, it's only an hour north via Tri-Rail. There's a 10:32 and a 12:32 at the Ft Lauderdale Airport/Dania stop both will get you to West Palm Beach for your 4pm flight. On the weekends it's a flat rate of $4 per person. Even with the added cab fares from Port Everglades to the FLL station and West Palm Beach station to the airport won't come close to the ridiculous daily rates the rental car companies are charging. I say go for it.
