gelcys Posted December 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2007 We will be in Cozumel on Christmas day. I am hoping that the shops, restaurants, and parks will be open? Also, we are thinking about going to Chankanaab first thing in the morning to snorkel. Are there other places anyone would recommend for beginners that want to be able to walk out to their snorkel site and not have it be too far from shore? We went to the Palmar beach club the last time we went there, and the beach club was great - nice pool, great munchies, and we were the only ones tehre for a while, but the beach which is just a little closer to town than Chankanaab left a lot to be desired. It was all rocks you had to get across to get in the water, and then the waves would knock you back to shore - which wasn't helped by the speed boats going by creating wake, or the official excurision catamaran I nearly hit my head on that had parked where I was snorkeling. It was still a great day - we went to La Choza for lunch, and then shopped around. ideas requested for good snorkeling and Pibil for lunch thanks! bksunbuddies Posted December 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2007 We will be in Cozumel on Christmas too. We are on the NCL Pearl. We are going to Playa Corona. Taxi is about $10. There is really no beach...just steps from the restaurant area. Here is a review I found on line. Hope this helps. It is one of the best places on Cozumel Island, Mexico to snorkel from shore!! If you are looking for a great snorkel spot and you don't care about the amenities; this is definitely the place for you! You can step into a friendly sand area in the water, and about 100 yards off shore you will see the south end of Chankanaab reef. Here the reef is even clearer then Chankanaab National Park (just to the north). Maybe we will see you there.
