Any special events in Ft. Lauderdale weekend of 2/23?

We had the airline cancel our flight out of LAX. We rebooked another flight coming in a day early and need to find a room for 2/23. Most of the recommended hotels listed on CC are booked full for the 23rd. There are rooms available the weekends before and after. Is there some major event or convention that weekend?

Shouldnt affect you, but we have noticed prices high to fly into east coast FL week before, this due ? to the 50th running of the Daytona 500 on the 17th of Feb, perhaps something? We sail on the 16th

The place to check is www.cruisecal.com With 8 ships in port on 2/24/08, yes Port Everglades will be one busy place.

 

In general, most cruiselines start boarding between 11 and 12, even though your docs will usually say boarding doesn't begin until 1 or 2pm. If you wait to arrive until the time listed in your docs, you will arrive at the port at the same time as almost everybody else. So since you are going to be arriving a day in advance, take advantage and get there early - that way you get more time to enjoy the ship.:D

Thanks, I neglected to notice that the preceding Monday was President’s day. Makes sense people would save a vacation day and stay that week.
