Traveling w/Foster Children

We'll be traveling with our two foster children (as well as our four other children) in April. Just wanted to hear from someone who may have personal experience....we were planning on getting a notorized document from the Department of Social Services authorizing us to take them on the cruise and medical treatment authorization as well as carry a copy of both their original birth certificates.

 

We understand they will not need Passports in April (the six of us have passports but the foster children don't - and this is one of the problems with the passport requirements.....it would be difficult or impossible to obtain a passport for these kids but I would never consider leaving them behind and we love to cruise!!)

We are in Canada and have cruised with our Foster Children.

 

Now, this was before passports were needed (1997, 1999 & 2001) and have one coming up. The young man who is with us now (has been with us for 19 years) has his own passport -- but we travelled with him when he was younger as well as with other foster children.

 

We always travel with a notorized letter from the Department - as well as with photocopies of their birth certificates. Of course we also have their medical cards with us. We have never had a problem at all.
