Times to see Cathedral

Please be aware if you take a tour to Merida and would like to see the Cathedral it is closed between 1 and 4 daily. We were very disappointed when we took a tour over to Merida, arrived at 1:15 and couldn't go in the Cathedral.

Was this a Carnival sponsered tour? We're trying find out the best (most cost effective) way to get our group of 6 into Merida from Progreso. Any suggestions?

In all my time in Merida, i've never seen the Cathedral closed to visitors during the day. Foreign visitors are coming and going to the Cathedral all day, especially Europeans. Please be respectful in your dress when you visit.

At least that has been my experience.
