Serena/Samsara-mess explained (RE earlier post)

In my recent post about our newbie-cruise on the Serena I complained about us (hubby&me) not getting into the spa etc. though we were in the Samsara minisuite. In case I got someone out there really worried I thought I'd better tell the rest of the story in a separate thread. So here goes:

I finally got around to email Costa asking for an explanation. I got a prompt reply to the following effect: Although our booking was for the Samsara Minisuite (SM), our confirmation was only for the standard minisuite (MS) but for some reason we were still in reality put in the Samsara minisuite (SM) . This is perfectly fine with us as it seems that we have only been charged for the standard minisuite, so there is no financial loss and we are not unhappy about that!

What still irritates me though is that when I originally got the confirmation by email I noticed that it said MS (instead of SM), and immediately mailed Costa back asking them to make sure that we are in the Samsara cabin - we wanted the spa-thing and were not in any way whatsoever looking for a discounted price. They responded by sending me the same confirmation anew, with a comment in the line of "here it is, madam, in case you didn't get the one we already sent you... hope everything is ok now". Thinking it was just me being fussy and over-anxious I let the thing drop (Lesson: if something looks funny in your traveling documents, then check, ask and be persistent).

I suppose what really happened was that some poor hurried clerk typed in the wrong cabin code into the computer, or maybe something got lost in translation (we were dealing with Costa in Genoa/Italy), who knows... But anyway for us the mystery is solved and in the end we had a good cruise, so no hard feelings, Costa!:)
