My mother has knee problems

We've only taken two excursions in Belize- the first, a long bus ride to some Mayan ruins. If she can comfortably sit for an extended period (maybe one hour?), then walk around over a grassy field (mostly even), she might enjoy this excursion. The more agile cruisers will enjoy climbing the ruins, but this is not necessary to enjoy them. She could set her own pace (and the tour guide who leads you around should also be able to accomodate her speed and agility level).

On our subsequent visits to Belize, we've taken the ship's excursions to Rendevous Caye for some snorkeling. Can your DM swim (that is, snorkel)? This would involve getting down the boat's ladders from deep water (and back up LOL). After snorkeling, there's a small beach area- a great place to relax (floats/mats are provided).

Another consideration in Belize is that you will need to tender. Depending on how rough the seas are at that time, this could be a challenge for someone without two good knees!
