dishie02 Posted January 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2008 Hey, Just back off the Inspiration and wanted to discuss what happened with the tendering. Anyone on the Inspiration or one of the other boats there that day? What was your experience like? Dishie
drew sailbum Posted January 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2008 it was headline news here. In short, it was a mess. Much more so for passengers of ships that chose to use their own life boats as tenders. If you were on Inspiration, I believe that you were one of the luckier ones as the larger Cayman-based tenders handled the building seas much better. Arizona Laura Posted January 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2008 I saw this earlier. Going to GC next week on Mariner. Any clouds in the sky I am staying on the ship or heading right back. I don't understand how one RCCL ship uses their lifeboats and another does not for tendering. Laura
dishie02 Posted January 8, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Thanks so much for the video and news story. This was indeed how things were playing out that day. My family was one of the luckier ones that made it back to the ship early. There were people tendering back to our ship that were out in those waves on small boats for more than three hours. It was a very scary time. Does this happen here often?? Dishie
ceejay_San Angelo Posted January 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2008 Thanks for starting this thread and thanks drew for the link. We were on the Conquest and tendered to Spotts Bay the following day (Thursday). We used the tender service and it wasn't a bad ride at all. The driver taking us from town back to Spotts Thursday afternoon told us a little about the previous day. Good thing we didn't know about it earlier, or we might have been more nervous about tendering over. Amazing what a difference a day of weather can make.
